69.4 MILLISECONDS OF 2020
69. 4 MILLISECONDS OF
LAUGHS,
LOVE,
JOYOUS CELEBRATIONS,
STILL MOMENTS,
QUIET LOOKS,
& ALL THINGS BEAUTIFUL.
every frame, all the shutter speeds of these images total 69.4 milliseconds from 2020. 69.4 milliseconds where the world just fell away for just a fraction of a second.
a frame. a blip of life. THIS my friends is the magic of photography. (this is also the magic of little sister who can help you with math homework and add up those fractions! thanks bots!)
this is my annual blog post to get sentimental, reflect back on the year, and thank each and every one of you from the bottom of my heart for stepping in front of my camera. for trusting me to capture, document and preserve your moments of 2020.
it is also my moment to get real and tell you that from the bottom of my heart that 2020 was the most challenging year of my life. small business is in my blood and in a global pandemic, it was the most catastrophic and gut wrenching events to not only witness, but continue to live in. the wedding industry is only one of the worst hit industries. my brain maybe hurts harder than my heart from making sense of current guidelines, ensuring our team is safe, that i am being safe, and that we can make this all happen. and we did.
my couples know it is WHY i get out of bed in the morning - to photograph (& then edit) people in love. that is not a sales pitch, that is my purpose in life and what feeds my soul. i am beyond lucky to build a career from my teenage passion. watching hard work crumble in real life, not just my own, not just fellow wedding photographers, fellow industry vendors, but also restaurants, artists, small businesses, has been complete devastation. also, to the couples planning their joyous days, replanning (sometimes more than twice), the uncertainty, the sacrifice, etc., etc.
bottom line, this year has not been easy. the sense of community, the industry, OUR amazing state of Vermont, our fights, our voices, the countless nights up until 11PM working on spread sheets, grant applications, calls to lawyers, my (incredible) accountant, emergency industry meetings, writing letters to our local representatives, zoom calls with our state representatives, number crunching again and again. and then again. and even again and again. (you got your numbers memorized from 2019-2020 yet?)
IT’S BEEN EXHAUSTING, BUT I AM PROUD, INSPIRED, THANKFUL AND IN AWE OF THE POWER PEOPLE HAVE WHEN THEY COME TOGETHER FOR JUSTICE.
AND AT THE END OF THE DARK STORM,
LOVE PREVAILS. JOY PREVAILS. ART PREVAILS.
WE KEEP GOING.
ALL THE LOVE & LIGHT FOR THE NEW HORIZONS,
XOXO
