THE (NEW) FUJI //
i woke up one morning and something hit me like a lightening bolt: I NEED A NEW CAMERA. i have been a canon girl since day one (aka the age of 15 when i bought my first camera, a canon (rebel 35mm) with my babysitting money). i wanted to play with something new - i wanted the teenage dazzle back in my life when i fell in love with photography at the age of 15. there was this need, want, pull, a lust i was after.
my photo pal Kelly (& who does all the CKPHOTO printing), and I met numerous times over coffee, pastries and nerded out on all things photography. i told kelly about a new camera i had been dreaming of, and they showed me images from their FUJI GFX 50s ii (such a mouthful!).
then, i fell in love. the frames in the 4x5 medium format, the cinematic feel, the grain and low light quality and incredible color profiles: this was my new camera.
i would drop some pretty pennies. read the manual and practice on the dollhouse farmhouse subjects: baby cows, blooming spring flowers, making my nephew pose and jump, and then slowly incorporate into client work. different camera, different feel, different vibe.
i have already started the lenses addiction, but i am trying to keep it under control. right now there’s 2: my dream lens which is the Mitakon 63mm f/1.4, manual focus only. & a native fuji 80mm, for the safe and reliable autofocus.
